CHOIR - Cór na nÓg
Fifth and sixth class pupils did wonderful work preparing for the E.S.B National Childrens Choir Concert, under the expert eye of Linda Lee. They went to practices in Clara,Tullamore and Portlaoise where they joined with pupils from St. Philomena's, Tullamore; Scoil Bhride, Clara; St. Paul's, Portlaoise; Ballyfin N.S.;Broughal N.S. and Rashina N.S.The concert was held in the Court Hotel, Tullamore, on May 13th and was an outstanding success with more than 300 children singing their hearts out under the leadership of Mr. Booth from Portlaoise. Two nights later they gave a repeat performance in Portlaoise. There was great excitement when the names of the three children chosen to represent the school in the National Concert Hall were revealed.

St.PATRICK'S DAY
Our school entered the St. Patricks Day Parade in Mountbolus. The theme of our entry was 'Peace'. As can be seen from the photos the children carried their doves and the slogan 'Peace' in many different languages. We all enjoyed taking part in the parade and we won a prize with our entry.

SACRAMENTS 2003
Pupils received their First Confession in Mountbolus on Feb. 25th, Confirmation in Kilcormac on March 14th and First Communion in Mountbolus on May 11th.

SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM
Sixth class participated in the Sculpture Project at Lough Boora in September. They worked with a sculptor and learned how to use materials found in the peatlands around them. They made nesting houses for the birds on the lake. A number of sculptors completed works that have become part of the landscape at Boora, one of which is the pyramid pictured below.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION
The Parents Association held their Annual General Meeting in October and a new committee was elected. They organised a visit to the school by Santa at Christmas and every child got a present.

A table quiz was held in the Blueball in February to raise funds for the Association and to provide a social night out for parents. A great night was had by all.
